David Bertram

David is Vice President of Transportation for Poet Nutrition, the Distiller's Grain marketing arm of ethanol producer Poet. David's responsibilities include acquisition, maintenance and management of a 2,500 car covered hopper fleet, as well as inventory and logistics management of over 4 Million tons of product annually.

Before joining Poet Nutrition, David was with Trinity Rail/Thrall Car for 8 years. During his tenure, David held various senior management positions in the US, Switzerland and England.

Prior to Trinity/Thrall, David worked for 14 years with CSX Transportation in Car Management, Marketing and Sales roles handling Metals, Minerals and Agricultural Products.

David worked for 5 years with the A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company as a transportation manager, and he began his professional career as a transportation planner, serving 4 years with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

David holds a Bachelors Degree in Urban Transportation Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana, and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
